Not too long ago, holiday albums were as much a part of Christmas decorating as stockings on the mantle and chunky glass lightbulbs on the tree. The seasonal vinyl collection was brought out within hours of Thanksgiving ending and lined up beside the turntable, their age and repeated use obvious by the worn red, green, and occasionally, baby blue spines. 
 
On the back covers were listed the recognizable, classic Christmas songs, often the only difference being the order of them and, occasionally, an added verse most people never knew existed. On the front covers you could count on seeing the faces of great vocalists—Bing, Ella, Frank, Peggy, Nat and many other artists who, by virtue of these albums, were like holiday guests we couldn’t wait to arrive.
 
Holiday music is a tradition we hope lasts for a long time. But we do believe there is room for new traditions to be made and think our music advent calendar does just that. It’s designed to look like a double LP but, in keeping with the familiar advent calendar style, has 25 flaps inside. Each day, when you open a flap, you’ll find a QR code that takes you to one of our newly recorded holiday songs.
